Ferly is based out of two main locations: Helsinki, Finland and Vancouver, Canada. We also have people working from Stockholm, Sweden and LA, United States.
Both of our offices are in prime locations, with easy access by foot and public transportation and plenty of lunch opportunities to choose from.

We’re looking for talented 2D animators with Adobe Animate experience to work on an internationally co-produced pre-school show.

Ferly is helping Yellow Animation to look for a Technical Director to join the Vancouver team.
Main function and purpose of the role:
Yellow Animation is a Vancouver based entertainment company offering a collaborative, friendly, and professional working environment. We specialize in storytelling across multiple platforms with projects in development and production including animation, publishing, and licensing globally.
Yellow Animation is looking for an efficient, reliable, and self-motivated Technical Director and IT guru! Strength in technical abilities as well as a passion for working with a team of extraordinary people and productions is what we are looking for! Working with the production and supervising teams, you will lead the charge for pipeline development and information technology, supporting an international 2D co-production across three countries!
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Build and integrate the Canadian side of an international production pipeline focusing on Adobe Animate, Creative Cloud, and Shotgun
- Together with our international partners, create and implement workflows and procedures that support the production.
- Monitor server and VPN systems, providing support and troubleshooting
- Create scripts and tools for efficiency, optimisation and automation of the production
- Be able to assess, deconstruct and resolve pipeline software and hardware problems
- Set up render farm and nodes if needed
- Act as the Canadian advisor in the development of the international communication and operation systems
- Offer solutions for improvements for the studio, sites and infrastructure
- Document and maintain development and optimization tools, hardware, software licences, and user records
- Responsibility for maintaining software licences and onboarding of technical infrastructure new staff
- Provide any training and documentation on tool usage for staff and partners
- Participate in company and production meetings as well as weekly reporting on timelines, progress and schedules
- Order and build hardware, equipment delivery as well as prepping and installing software for staff computers
- Support staff with software and hardware technical issues
Person Specification:
- 5+ years of working in the animation studios or related industry experience
- Proven level knowledge if Javascript, VBScript, Applescript, and Python; C# would be an asset
- Professional level knowledge of 2D pipeles, 3D pipelines a bonus
- High level of knowledge of server systems, backups, redundancies, mirrored systems, and security
- Production knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Shotgun, and ToonBoom
- Certificate or Degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience
- Experience working with multiple platforms such as Apple, Microsoft, Linux and Unix for both hardware and software would be ideal
- Communicates in a clear and thoughtful manner to peers, management and partners
- Adheres to the production schedule including departmental deadlines
- Be open and able to receive constructive feedback and present optimal solutions
- Proactive and positive problem solver
- An up to date knowledge of new and revised features in software, hardware and programming languages
- Works well independently and in a team environment
- Highly motivated, command level of initiative for self and production
- Detailed, proficient, timely, productive and someone who wants to make a difference
